How do I obtain the following in Sony Vegas Pro? Does Vegas pro have settings for 60i and 30i???

“What i did is shot it in 60i, but imported it as if it were 30i. This gave me a 50% reduced play speed.”

Trying to achieve slow motion with Vegas.

    Thanks,

    T

Not sure whether it’s possible to do it by fiddling the import as you suggest, but Vegas can certainly change the playback speed of any clip easily, speeding or slowing it by up to 4 times.

Hold down Ctrl and drag the end of a clip. Or on a clip’s properties screen, enter the new speed in the Playback Rate field.

To Achieve the best slow motion in Vegas:

    1. Shoot @high frame rates 120fps- slow down in vegas
    2. Shoot interlace
    2. Any other scenarios?

Looking for a near organic slow motion “over crank” look.

    Thanks,

    T

PS- Peter I am aware of the CTRL drag, but that distorts and looks artificial…

You need to shoot at a higher frame rate. 60i is the normal frame rate of every NTSC camera made. The “i” represents an interlaced field, not a full frame. So 60i is 30 frames per second where each frame is made up of two interlaced fields (odd and even scan lines). If your camera can shoot 60p (which is truly 60fps) you can slow that down by telling Vegas to play it back at 30fps and get smooth slo-mo.

All we did was change the play back of the video we used. We had filmed a bunch of kids walking by and waving for the closing of our movie. We wanted to stretch it out to have credits roll. We just chnaged the playback rate. Worked well. If I was at home on my PC I could give you all the details.
