How, on an in-video image, do I clear its backdrop?
I need to put my personal logo on the bottom corner of my video. The problem is, once I crop the image to the corner and correct size, instead of just having the word “Spark” be there, the white rectangular background is there as well.
Pic: https://i50.tinypic.com/jr2m4l.jpgWhenever I make that white background transparent in Photoshop, and save the final file-type [Jpeg], it just saves that blank space as white. This looks very bad as a half-opaque logo in the video, and I need to just have the letters visible.
How can I edit out that background within my Vegas project?

Is there a file-type in Photoshop that will not automatically convert a transparent background into a white one? (and is supported by Vegas) -

That’s your problem right there. JPG doesn’t contain an alpha channel and therefore cannot encode the transparency. JPG is really only good for encoding photographs.

Yes, use the Portable Network Graphics (PNG) format in 32-bit mode. You need 32-bits because the image needs to be RGB+Alpha so that’s 8-bit for Red, 8-bit for Green, 8-bit for Blue, (which is 24 bits) and 8-bit for Alpha/Transparency bringing the total to 32-bits per pixel. JPG is only 24-bit which is why it didn’t work. There are other formats that carry an alpha channel as well but Vegas loves PNG files.
