I have problem with rendering avi file with vegas 9 using Xvid. It constantly crashes, and I don’t know why. I have Win 7. does anyone have any solution?

January 14, 2010 at 11:07 amVegas does not like Xvid or DivX. These are delivery formats not editing formats. You need to transcode your source footage with another program like Avidemux to something that is easily editable in Vegas like Huffyuv or Lagarith and replace the files that you have now with those. Then it will render fine.

i manage to render it with Divx and not with Xvid. Ok i will try your way, but tell me will i lose some quality when i change files in Huffyuv or Lagarith? And when I change them will I be able to use Xvid?
thank you ! -

No. Both Huffyuv and Lagarith are lossless codecs.

I’ve never rendered out of Vegas using Xvid so I can’t say. Why don’t you just try rendering a project with just a generated media title to see if Xvid even works? If it does, then rendering Xvid from Huffyuv or Lararith source should work as well.
Since you can render to DivX why not just use that? Or why play with these ancient technologies and just use Sony’s AVC/H.264 codec?

January 14, 2010 at 4:43 pmI suppose you’re right. I will try those codecs and I hope that files are not going to be too large. Thank you very much!
