Vegas 9 on Windows7 64 bit & ASIO setup
I have a W7 64 platform.
EMU 0404 is the soundcard, and Logitech 9000 webcam – both have W7 drivers.
They seem to be operating fine (i.e I can record & playback audio, and I can record video – no issues).
I hit a brick wall with the Audio Device configuration. The ASIO audio record channels seem to be hardwired to 31/32 – and I can’t see anyway of changing it – it’s greyed out.
I beleive I’ve tried all sorts of swapping back to MS Sound Mapper and then re-seting up ASIO – but it doesn’t give an option.
Help !

Where are you selecting this? You select the record input after you ARM the track. Like this:

I am having a similar problem, I cannot “arm to record” either, because the ARM button is never active (red). I have Windows 7 and I installed the 64bit version of Vegas 9. The only other problem I have experienced is that Cinescore 1.0 only works with the 32bit version of Vegas 9.0.

Been on an extended ping-pong dialogue with Sony support, and they suggest an alternative soundcard to my EMU 0404.
So please suggest away – but I don’t want to shell out 100s of $/£ !

Well… if you buy cheap you’re going to get what you pay for (and one might argue that this is exactly what you got with the EMU 0404)
M-Audio, Echo, PreSonis, and RME all make quality audio interfaces. It all depends on yor budget.
The M-Audio FireWire Solo is an inexpensive firewire solution at around $199 USD that supports stereo out and an XLR mic with phantom power. If you need 5.1 support then you’ll want something like the M-Audio Firewire 610. I use an M-Audio Firewire 410 and I’m very happy with it.
Echo has the AudioFire4 FireWire Audio Interface at $299 USD and PreSonus has the FireStudio Mobile 10×6 FireWire Recording System for $249 USD. You really can’t go wrong with any of these.

No, no, nothing so high-end. I’m only recording a mic (maybe stereo) or a guitar.
I just want to be able to record guitar + playback mp3 backing + webcam video without having to muck about with syncing a soundtrack after the event. Vegas 8 under XP SP3 (on my long deceased old box) could do this.
Any thoughts on an ESI Maya 44e ? Known to play nicely with Vegas 9 or 10 ?

Of course you can, it’s ASIO!. It has direct monitoring. Read the product page. It’s a Pro Tools M-Powered compatible audio interface.

It will allow you to hear the input monitored, but does not enable playback & Record monitoring in sync.
I bought one for a Mac Mini last year and it simply does not support it, and yes I did read the manual rather than the marketing on the website 😉
The Apogee One did, but sadly that’s Mac only.

I’m not going to argue with you in this, it didn’t work for me.
I’ll take a look at the M-Audio Audiophile 192.
All I want is a card with an ASIO stack that is Vegas friendly rather than anything complex. Is this true of M-Audio gear (or ESI for that matter) ?
MOTU / RME are far too expensive for my wallet.
