Sony Vegas rendered video not as smooth as orig 60i .MTS file
I’ve noticed that despite being able to get “60p/60fps” (by using MainConcept AVC/AAC *.mp4)in my video rendering, the video still doesn’t look quite a smooth as my original .MTS file (at 60i/60fps). Is there some way to retain the original smoothness & full quality of the .MTS file but basically be able to cut and edit it? I haven’t been able to come up with a way to render yet that is exactly as smooth as the original and there has to be a way.

What do you mean by smooth? You mean the playback of the file is choppy?
Do this, render it out to 29.97 fps using the Main Concept HD or HDV setting (you didn’t say what your original file is). See if that is smooth enough for you.
Something else to consider is that your computer may not be fast enough to decode the file on the fly and play it at full frame rate- especially if you are attempting to play it at 60 frames per second.

The playback is fine from a PC hardware perspective (I have a Phenom II Quadcore 955 with 4gigs ram and 9500GT Nvidia video card). When I process the original 60i .MTS file into say 60p (using MainConcept AVC/AAC (*.mp4) the video motion doesn’t look quite a smooth as the original. And in smooth I mean fps perspective. I’ve disabled the motion blur, and do have the project properties set at 60fps and the render settings at 60fps(progressive) and the result is almost exactly what I’m looking for. (I don’t want 30fps in this case) I have done a test edit in the software provided by Canon Pixela 3 and it results in exactly the same quality as the original, but doesn’t have a few options I want. Is there a way/option to minimize/eliminate any rendering on the actual recorded video portion of the final product? In the end, it’s not something I view so much as something malfunctioning, to me it’s more of a possible setting or rendering option that might could achieve what I’m looking for. I may just be being too picky. Thanks.

If you convert 60i to 60p, you are forcing the software to rerender the video and to create frames that are not in the original video source. That is probably why you see a lessening of quality. 60i video is the interlaced version of 30p (or 29.97 fps). It is not 60p.

I agree and understand. I’ve already tried 60i and it makes no difference, the result is the same.
