I’m editing interview footage (shot by someone else) where much of the audio was recorded way too hot. I’ve used Sound Forge Clipped Peak restorer on it but it didn’t help much. I know the best solution for this is to record it correctly in the first place, but re-recording isn’t an option and I’m forced to make due with it the best I can. Does anyone have any suggestions for plugins or other things to try?

    thanks,

iZotope RX is a tool a lot of users have been praising on various Vegas forums for it’s capabilities.
“declipper” is their tool set for problems like yours.
    It’s $349 to buy it.
A trial version is available but you can’t save anything.
    iZotope RX for more info.
