I have a pretty fast computer (brief Specs below) but it still takes around 7 hours to “Make Disc” (about 90 minutes long) with Sony DVD architect?
Am I doing something wrong with my settings ?
    ( Blu ray 1080×1920 50i)

    Intel core i1 870 CPU
    8BG DDR3 RAM
2x 250GB SSD Hard drives (windows 7 installed on one of these)
1 Western digital 1TB SATA hard drive
    ATI 4890 graphics

That depends. Are you talking strictly burning time or the entire disk process?

I can *burn* a Blu Ray in about an hour give or take a little. My *preparation and burn* is about 2.5 hours, but then most of that does not have to be re-compressed.

If on the other hand you stick a file in DVDa and it feels that it is not to the proper standard (not compliant) then DVDa will re-compress (totally re-write the file)… and that takes a
    M U C H
    longer time.

yes that’s the entire time in DVD Archtect
first I render in Vegas at 1080x 1920 that takes about 2 hours, then I import the file into DVD Architect cerate a menu and then burn directly to Blu ray,
So it takes 2 hours in Vegas then another 7 hours in Architect.
I checked that the video does not need re-compression so it seems like an awful long time doesnt it ?

    Please advise

The only 2 reasons I can think of why it would take that long is if you have an extremely complicated menu….. or you’re re-compressing.

What file type(s) are you exporting from Vegas? Are you exporting separate audio/video files from Vegas? (DVDa likes the separate audio/video files better). Are you SURE you’re not re-compressing? When you go to “disk optimize” just before you burn you should see green check marks beside all files except for the menu (the menu will always re-compress). If you do not see a check mark beside all your files then dvda is re-compressing the ones that aren’t checked.

Well Now I have an update…..
I have been experimenting with various ideas to find out why it’s taking so long to make a blu-ray disc in DVD Architect and this is what I discovered !….amazing really….
As I previously stated (above) my problem was it was taking about 7 hours to “Make a blu-ray disc” ( aprox 14GB) in DVD Architect.
I have now tried using exactly the same file and settings to just use DVD Architect to “Prepare” a file ( make an .iso. file) this takes approximatly 17 minutes.
I then burned this iso file to Blu-ray disc using Nero and this took 35 minutes..
As you can see only a total of about 1 hour to do exactly the same as DVD Architect takes to do the same thing in 7 hours.
What’s wrong with DVD Architect ?
    Does anyone have any idea’s
