• Adobe After Effects

  after effects can’t continue, after effects has crashed, (0:42)

  I used AE CS3 for few months. It’s been using fine until these few day, when i drag a file or drag a fx to timeline, it come out the message,”after effects can’t continue, after effects has crashed, (0:42)”.

  I’ve tried :
  1. deleted the prefs file.
  2. updated Quicktime.
  3. deleted OpenGL.
  4. Remove the 3rd party video codec, eg: canopus
  5. Uninstall and reinstall the whole program.

  But, it’s still doesn’t work.

  Please help me! i only left 2 days to submit my work!

  Which drivers did you update in the days before? Any changes to the system? Tried a system restore? WIN or MAC?
  What do you mean by saying “deleted OpenGL”?
  Did you run an update on After Effects?

  Do a RAM test (use the program “Memtest”) to check if your RAM is ok.
  Try defragmenting.

  This is what I came up. Don’t have more ideas. Sorry

  I’m with Dino on this in that this is a low level error.

  I would also look at CODECs and specific plugins. Do provide more info on your machine and details of the project.

  Do you get this error with a new, empty project?

  I tried the suggestion which i found in other forum, saying that removed the OpenGL, and tried. But,it doesn’t work for my case.

  Previously, it really run smooth and fast for quite a long time.Until I installed Edius, but Edius doesn’t work in my PC, hence, i uninstall it. Since then, my AE CS3 crashed when i drag files in AE. Now, i only can use “copy and paste” or right click on the layer to add effects.

  I did clear all the possible canopus.Uninstall it, deleted all the canopus folder, deleted the registry key.And, I didn’t update any driver before.

  I’m using PC,winXP SP2.

  Well, at least you know that Edius is the culprit. I’m pretty sure that the installation of Edius affected something in your OS in a drastic way. I would check with your Edius reseller.

  Also check ALL the settings for your graphics card. I would start with settings that were as plain as possible, ie. no hardware acceleration and a smaller resolution. Test AE with such a setting and then work your way up towards a more souped up setting. Sould AE still misbve with a basic setting for youou graphic card then there could be something else that Edius may have done – perhaps to your HD settings.
