Has anyone found a way to use the Batch Rendering capabilities in Production Assistant with Network Rendering/Render Farms?

What I am hoping to do is use a batch render template that has multiple formats, sending each format to a different Render Farm.

That’s not currently possible since Production Assistant is a Vegas script and there is no script API for network rendering. That would be a great idea though but are you aware of the limitations? To quote from the Vegas help file:

Certain file formats, such as MPEG-2, AC-3, and MP3, are licensed per computer and cannot be used on render-only clients. Additionally, MPEG-2 can be used for the final output format, but not for rendered segments in distributed rendering.

So I’m not sure how that would affect you depending on the formats you want to render.

Thanks for the information. That’s unfortunate because automating network rendering would greatly help my workflow.

We actually don’t use Distributed Rendering here, we just have multiple render farms each handle one job at a time. So – while .mpg2 is one of our formats, we have no problem rendering out to it.

Next week we’re finally making the jump from Vegas 6 to Vegas 9.
