Credit roll jitter
Posted by Bob Mark on November 2, 2009 at 5:05 pmI am rendering progressive footage to a progressive SD DVD. The credit roll show a little bit of jitter.
Could that be the DVD player or something else? I did a two pass render at a high data rate. The video looks great and so do the static titles, but the roll have a bit of jitter and blur. Any ideas?
Thanks.Bob

November 2, 2009 at 5:40 pmIf you right click, in one of the options choose “reducing interlace flicker” that has helped me in the past!

November 2, 2009 at 8:55 pmTry speeding it up or slow it down. I’ve agonized over jittery credit rolls in the past and usually changing the speed has helped.

November 3, 2009 at 2:19 amThanks for the suggestions guys. I had reduce flicker selected.
I can’t really change the speed because it is in the middle of the program and has a specific run time to match the vo.Thx.

Try adding a Gaussian Blur at about 0.002 and see if that smooths it out.

November 3, 2009 at 12:44 pmMake sure your project is set to “Best” and not just “good.” Also, I have used a different and/or larger font to help with the jitter. If you have a sharpen filter on, it will also cause some as well. I used the new sharpen feature in 9, and it did add a little jitter.

November 3, 2009 at 2:03 pmThanks for the suggestions. I reset the titler and did a prerender of that area. The roll looks pretty smooth now, but it looks soft.
I’m rendering HD footage to a SD DVD. On the computer it looks good, but the roll on a 40″ HD screen looks kind of blurry. Maybe it’s a interlaced DVD player playing a progressive DVD that is causing that? Thanks.
