    Hi all
When importing a video in the timeline Vegas normally shows at the bottom left corner that it is building peaks. Why does Vegas do this? Also i’ve noticed that if i cancel it it can still be editered but you can’t see the audio levels. Is there a way i could restart the building peaks without importing the video in the timeline again?
    Thanks
    Brandon.

You figured it out: the audio levels or waveform is the “peaks” Vegas is drawing, converting the audio information into a visual record of the loudness. It’s saved to a special SFK file (*.sfk) in the media’s directory. They are small and you can ignore them – or delete them and rebuild them later, no worries.
