A client gave me files from his EX1 in the form of Mov’s. I’m running both 8.0 and 9.0 but neither see the files. GSpot shows the codes as HDV2. Everything I have read thus far says this should drop on the timeline without a hitch. When attempting to open the files with QTime it tells me I “may need” additional components to play the files. It will play them but no video only audio. The apple link it takes me to does not help at all. Look for codecs or drivers that would be applicable but none found. I’m sure it must be something I am missing. As always thanks very much in advance for all the help over the years.

… ask your client for the original BPAV files from the EX1 that Vegas or clip browser can easily read … some (apple) people think that mov files are the only ones….

    good luck

Thanks for the info but I think the original files stored on the EX1 are gone. Do these files transfer automatically from the camera? I’ve researched this and found that the culprit seems to be the INTEGER BIG Endian Timecode codec. It is specifically used in FCP and for the camera. But again lots of other posts show no problem with seeing the files and dropping them on the timeline. I also read to use Slipstream and convert them. That does not work either as it also does not show the video just the audio. The last effort at this point unless there are some other suggestions is to ask those files to be rendered to something else. (Long process) But will that codec still apply? Had this problem with P2 cards and the MXF file format. Hope this clears up some of the mess.
