  • Script to apply effect to text layer

Is it possible to write a script to apply an effect to only text layers in a comp, and in any nested/pre-comps as well?

I have a bunch of text layers in a number of comps that I want to apply an effect.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

Alternatively, I’m sure there are some scripts floating around that will allow you to select all text layers in a comp at the same time, then just apply the effect.

That could be handy if you have a few hundred layers with text-layers scattered inbetween them.

Although you might be lucky if all those text layers have the same unqiue color-icon (wich they probably are by default), you can use the ‘select label group’ command, without any stinking scripts 😉

Yeah, the reason I was thinking of a script was that I have hundreds of text layers in numerous comps and precomps. I was hoping maybe there was a way to select the master comp and run a script that would go through all the comps and apply an effect to just the text layers.

Maybe it would take longer to write a script like that then to just apply a preset effect like Dave suggested or just copy and paste.
