August 20, 2009 at 10:29 pmYou need to use Pan/Crop and Track Motion events on each track.

August 20, 2009 at 10:42 pmDo you mean the black frame at the end of the video with different events in it? Simply make a black and white mask in e.g. photoshop. Black are the black bars and white will become transparant in Vegas.
Open Vegas.
Place the black/white mask on the top track.
Place the inserts (video’s) on the tracks below the mask and Resize/reposition these videos with the track-motion tool.
Set the composition mode of the mask-containing track to MULTIPLY (MASK) and enjoy your effect.
Any black/white shape you can think off can serve as a mask for this effect. An example of a mask may be downloaded here:

August 21, 2009 at 12:18 amThank you for the tips… I can’t seem to make the white part alpha so that I can see the video under it! Also, do you have any other templates like this one?

squares etc can be made with Vegas generated media. But all other form can be easilly made in e.g. photoshop. What do you need?

August 21, 2009 at 4:15 pmThank you, I got the alpha going. I just used chromakey to alpha out the white. Was that the right way to do it?
I was looking for a template that was 3 shapes, a square on the left with two stacked rectangles (or squares) on the right. I know it’s simple, but can I build that with Vegas (I suck at Photoshop)? Or can I search on the web for templates? What are they officially called, video masks?

August 21, 2009 at 7:52 pmIf you only want to have straight shapes like squares, rectangles and circles, you can make everything you like in Vegas. Even the methot suggested by Danny will do. If you like to have special shapes (e.g. an erlemeyer for a video shot in a laboratory), other programs can be very usefull.
But you can make any creative idea you can think of. What about a waterfall that starts in a square or a circel but where the water comes over the border and falls over other clips?Theo
