    If I shoot some test video in just dv using the hc9 can I capture to windows movie maker as .avi then edit and render as mpeg2 in ms9plat or will this hose something up?

    Yes, it is possible to capture as DV-avi in WMM, edit in WMM, render as DV-avi in WMM, import into Vegas and render as MPEG2 in Vegas. However, this requires rendering your output twice, possibly resulting in unnessecary loss of quality.
    What is the advance of editing in WMM? Why not directly editing in Vegas?

    I meant only to shoot in dv with the hc9 and capture to wmm .avi and then import to vegas, edit and render mpeg2.
