blurred picture issue
Hi there,
I’m using Vegas 7 and have two recordings of a play – one from the 1st night, one from the 2nd night. I captured these with no problem. The way it worked out, the 1st night captured in 3 files and the 2nd night captured in just one file (about 10GB).The video for both shows looks fine in the trimmer, but when I drop the 2nd night (larger file) onto the timeline I get a blurry picture that seems slightly over-exposed (like the contrast is too high). The effect is only slight, but I cannot explain it. There are no effects on either clips or on the tracks themselves. I mentioned the file size above as this is the only thing I can find that is different between the two performances. The 1st night clips look just as they should do.
I’ve recently lost one of my RAM sticks so I’m just operating on 512GB if that could be a problem.
Anyone have any ideas what’s wrong and how do I fix it?

If you render a small piece of both recordings to DV-avi, do you still see the differences?

I don’t know why the second clip looks blurry on the timeline, but having only one ram stick could be a problem for your computer. most computers are built for balanced operation on RAM, and if you operate unbalanced it can burn the other stick out. I don’t know if it is harder on the processor, but it might be.
ram is cheap nowadays, so why not pick up a couple of new sticks from newegg, or tigerdirect? Even if that is not your problem, it should extend the life of your machine, and give you much better performance. just a thought. and I hope it helps.

I should add that it is important that ram be matched. I once added a 1gb stick to a laptop that had .5gb, and we burned the .5gb stick out, because the ram was not balanced.
but again, thankfully, ram is cheap nowadays.
