Help Converting HD Footage into Videos Suitable for Streaming
I’m trying to produce a series of “high def” videos, 5-10mins long, suitable for online streaming (suitable for those with decent broadband at least)…
My footage is HDV 1440x1080i which I’ve edited in Vegas without problems.
I only have Sony Vegas Movie Studio (platinum) so can’t render to mp4 (the custom option is greyed out) so tried rendering to an uncompressed AVI and then converting to mp4 using Sorenson Squeeze.
The result is poor (pixelated during transitions) and comes to 40mb for a 5min video. It certainly doesn’t look like the HD videos on YouTube which I assume are mp4 not flv. Settings I used to convert were:
– Main concept H264 codec
– 1280×720
– 1000kbps data rate
– 2pass VBRAre my conversion settings to blame and am I better off biting the bullet and buying Vegas Pro so I can render straight to mp4? Or is there something else I can try combing my version of Vegas and Sorenson Squeeze?
Any help would be much appreciated,
Phil.
