  • Vegas Pro 9 locks up with preview to external firewire device

Posted by Carlos Plaza on July 14, 2009 at 1:26 pm

Just upgraded to Vegas 9.0 (32 bit), 3.0 GHz P4 wi 3 GB memory & Win XP SP3.
Using a JVC SR-VS30U with firewire for external preview device to drive 2 Sony broadcast monitors (1 LCD & 1 analog). Works fine for a short time, but eventually locks up Vegas 9 & have to force a shutdown of the program.
NEVER had this problem with Vegas 8.
Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, that problem is known….But actually what file format
did you place on the timeline that caused the lock-up?

Thanks for the response…On this project, using both AVI (with embedded audio) & JPEG files with added 44.1KHz @ 16 bit WAV files.
Also fails on another project with only AVI (no embedded audio) with added 44.1KHz @ 16 bit WAV files.

Yeah I went through this whole issue with Sony technical support the week that 9.0 came out. As Steve said it is a “known issue.” My question is, now that they know about it, when can I finally start using 9.0?
