Does anyone know if Vegas has a setting that will allow audio clips to show video positioning when they are moved, trimmed, or otherwise edited. This seems to be lacking when editing other trim points like generated media clips.

    Thanks

Not sure quite what you’re looking for…

When I’m editing a sound cue that needs precise positioning I usually tend to loop or select a very small section, and at times I’ll identify a particular part of the wave form (sometimes presetting a reference mark in Soundforge before pulling the audio into Vegas, for ease of positioning… at least rough positioning) and slide (or nudge) it against the video, while keeping an eye particularly on the preview window.

When you grab and trim audio in and out points or slide a audio clip along the timeline the current video position or video frame of reference does not follow the audio’s new position, the video remains at the timeline cursor. I can’t find a way for vegas to display the video position when trimming the in and out points of an audio file or sliding an audio file. The same goes for when you are editing the in and out points of “generated media” clips or sliding them around. You have no idea of the current video sync position. Arrrg.

There should be a way to make audio clips report the current video frame position similar to the way vegas does when you trim a video clip, the in and out points display the new frame while trimming the video with the grabber.

I am sure this is a feature that could easily be added. Editing audio would be a lot easier and the need for constantly creating markers for sync points would go away. Also, it would make dragging a dropping audio file to the timeline a single one step process.

    Thanks for your support
