    Hello

Please help with a dv 4:3 render in Sony Vegas 8.

I used the Main Concept template with DVD NTSC with Output type as DVD. Should I have used Output type = Mpeg2?

I’m still not sure how to read the main screen in Sony Vegas.

    My preview window says:
    Project 720 x 480
    Preview 720 x 480
    Display 655 x 480

The file comes out with a .mpg extension

What other info as I missing here?

Never mind. The root of the problem was in the menus of the DVD authoring software.

How about sharing what you discovered with the rest of the community? If you had this problem perhaps others might find themselves in the same fix. Now is your chance to add content.

Oh, well it actually relates to the CyberLink PowerDirector7 software which I highly DO NOT recommend.

My computer does not like DVD Architech so I had to try another program.

Anyways, Sony Vegas 8 was fine its just that CyberLink defaulted to an aspect ration of 16:9 and I didn’t know it. My fault because I do not use an external monitor since I switched to PC editing this year.

Once I switched to the correct aspect ratio, I had to re-do the DVD authoring set-up which is just mind-numbing because its the same project! : )

I’ve found that most problems with the Vegas suite can usually be traced to third party programs, add-ins, plug-ins etc. Especially when those programs are low end. Vegas plays well with most of the more polished programs such as After Effects, Photoshop, etc. the newer versions of Vegas also have most of the effects and capabilities that you might be looking for. You can’t go wrong with third party additions that are designed for Vegas such as any of the VASST programs and the Excalibur add-in.
