    Hello there,

I need to play video in DVD format with 50″ HDTV screen.

What is the best format for this? As far as I know, the DVD format (MPEG2)is only for 720×480 resolution, but the 50″ screen is 1366×768.

    Thanks.

I’ve got a 52″ Sony Bravia and my home-made DVDs look OK on it.
Some of the newer DVD players have an upsampling feature built into them that scales the video up to match the TV.
This new signal is generally sent down an HDMI cable to your TV set.
Some receivers have an up-converter built into them that does this for you as well.
You can also invest in a Blu-ray recorder (hi def) and start making your DVDs that way if you so desire.
