    Hello everyone,

I’m shooting with the Sony HVR-V1U.
    I’m editing on vegas 8.0c.
I’m wanting to take a 75min. clip and speed it up to about 50 seconds. Is there a trick i’m missing? Because I can’t get it nowhere near that. My peers using Final Cut have no problem with this. Please help! Thanks!

    Right click, choose Properties.
    Set playback rate to 4.00
    Close this dialog box.
Right click media again, now choose “Velocity envelope. Drag the “rubber band” to the top.
This will make the media 12x normal.
If this isn’t fast enough, you may need to render to a new track and repeat this function.
There are also scripts, such as Ultimate S that make this easier as it selects frames vs temporal changes.

As you have seen, Vegas maxes out at 4x original speed. Then you could add a 300% Velocity curve but that’s still only 12x. The easiest way to accomplish this would be by using a script that can export images of the timeline at regular intervals. You would need to export every 90th frame to get the speed you want. Then import those frames back in as an image sequence. A commercial script tool like Ultimate S Pro or Excalibur can do this for you. There may also be free scripts available that can do this.
