  • Is it possible to render at 1920 x 1080?

Posted by Mike Richardson on May 4, 2009 at 12:58 pm

In Sony Vegas Pro 8.1 I set the project settings to 1920 x 1080, but the only render options I see for AVC or for BD are at 1440 x 1080. Why are there no options in the render drop down for BD 1920 x 1080? I assume seeting the project options at 1920 x 1080, then using a 1440 x 1080 render and loading it into DVD Architect with settings at 1920 x 1080 will produce a 1920 x 1080 result, true? Thank you.

Vegas Pro 8.0c has 1920×1080 AVCHD templates for Blu-ray. I’m not at my 64-bit workstation right now to look, but if Vegas Pro 8.1 doesn’t have them, you have to understand that 8.1 is based on 8.0b which is OLDER than 8.0c and has less functionality.

If you’re serious about 64-bit, you want to get Vegas Pro 9.0 when it comes out on May 11th.

Thanks, John. One of the reasons I was using v8.1 is that I get the following error message whenever I try to render high def in 8.0c. “An error occurred while creating the media file [name of file]. The reason for the error could not be determined.”

Have you seen this error before or do you have any idea what it may be?

Rendering to .mpg standard def is not a problem in 8.0c.

I’m running a Vista 64 bit machine with an i9 processor and 12GB of RAM. Machine hums right along for all kinds of work. It’s just in Vegas 8.0c that I have this problem with the high def.

    Thanks.

Thanks. I was able to do this in 8.1. Had a combination of settings that wasn’t correct. Once I made the changes it worked great.

Hi Mike: I’ve been trying to render at 1920 x 1080 for some time without success and would be interested in the settings that you have found to work.
