  WMV & MOV videos looks the same on DVD?

  I am testing out Vegas Studio Move Platform V9. I had accidentally killed Quicktime on my old PC so dead that even a paid professional couldn’t bring it back, so my Quicktime MOV video files could not be imported into Vegas for editing. I had to convert the higher quality MOV to WMV video for editing.

  I have a new PC and was shocked that WMV video and the higher res MOV (compared to WMV) video files both look the SAME after Vegas’s DVD Architect creates a DVD.

  Shouldn’t the much larger MOV files produce better quality video after Vegas creates a DVD?

  If not, then I don’t need to keep this new PC.

  Can anyone explain this?

  It depends on how much higher the quality of the MOV files are and if that quality is easily perceptible before encoding for DVD. Your DVD files will always be standard definition MPEG-2 format. Once both files are reduced to this format, the difference might not be that noticeable.
