A Specific Question
Hi, I have been having some problems with rendering in Vegas. So I finished a project which is set to 1280 x 720 with 1.3333 aspect ratio. The videos on the time line were cropped from 1440 x 1080 to 1440 x 612 to get the 2.35:1 look. So In the preview it looks just the way I wanted it to. When I go to render the file to an MP4 (main concept), for Vimeo, I use the settings: 1280 x 720 and aspect ratio of 1.3333 (Or Should it Be 1.0000 because I don’t think so). The output doesn’t seem to be 16:9 aspect ratios with black bars like I wanted. Instead it is 2.35:1 with black bars and even worse when I upload it to Vimeo it all become squished and funky looking. I’m sorry if this is to complicated how I described this, but it has been annoying after so many renders changing little settings.

Why are you using custom settings? This is your problem. 1280×720 is progressive and you changed it to interlaced. 1280×720 has a PAR of 1.000 and you changed it to 1.3333 (which is why Vimeo is squishing it). You have caused this problem by changing the standard settings.
Try using the default 1280x720p settings (both project and render) and add whatever further cropping to the video events as needed. Alternately, drop the project into another project and add the 2.35:1 crop there (it’s a lot easier)

Thanks for your response, when I did this an uploaded it, it wasn’t HD anymore and isn’t as wide as it should be. It stills says that it’s 1280 x 720 and I can see that when I change the projects settings from 1.3333 to 1.0000 it adds more black space to the top and bottom when I actually wanted it more skinny and wider -> Look at the picture and compare it with the first pics I posted.
I don’t how I got lucky with this video to turn out just fine https://vimeo.com/3950062 and with my current video it just ends up squished. If this helps: My camera films in 1440×1080 anamorphic at 60i
I’m gonna try some things and maybe I can get it to work.

Unfortunately it’s not as easy as flipping a switch. You did the whole project in the wrong format so you need to undo all of that; i.e., all of your cropping was based on the wrong aspect.
I woulds start by changing the project to 1280x720p as you have done. Then remove all of the cropping. At this point your video should look exactly as you shot it. You said your source was 1440×1080 PAR 1.3333 which is the same aspect as 1280×720 PAR 1.0000. If the video doesn’t fit perfectly and look just like you shot it then something else is wrong (maybe you changed some event properties?). If the video looks OK then you can add the cropping back. Finally, render as 1280x720p PAR 1.000 and you should have the letterboxing you desire.
Don’t forget, an easy way to add the cropping to the entire video in one step is to drop the project into another 720p project and add the 2.35:1 crop to the one big video event that is your .veg file.

Also, I used that tip that you mentioned to just put the project file in another Vegas Project and just crop it there. It worked, but the rendering time increased drastically. I don’t know if there is someway to make it go faster, but if there isn’t I can’t really sacrifice that for a super long rendering time.
