I’ve been given an old VHS tape which a friend would like to get copied onto a DVD. I still have an old VHS machine for playback. The next step would be capturing the video & I suspect that I should be able to do this straight onto the time line using Vegas 6 where I should be able to trim it, add chapter points etc before sending it onto DVDA. I

I have also been given an old Sony DV Digital 8 camera, model DCR TVR410E which I’m told should allow the analogue signal from the VCR to pass through the camera where the signal should converted to digital thus allowing the recording directly onto the Vegas time line. The cameras manual does not mention if and or how this might be done. Since the camera must allow for analogue input I’m assuming that it should be set to record but then the processed signal needs to be outputted as digital through the fire wire connection. I’m confused. Has anyone done this & am I on the right track?

    Thanks in advance

If the camera does have a firewire connection and a composite and audio input, you can set Vegas to disable device control and video should pass through for capture. If not capture to the firewire camera then capture inti Vegas. Danny Hays
