.MOV & “Stills” & Photo Paint
I usually ask questions and help, and I thought I would pass on something that may be “old hat” to most of you.
I have a Canon SX10 camera which also shoots videos in the .MOV format. To extract “stills” from it I place it in Vegas, select the particular frame, and save it.
But there is another way. Using Corel Photo Paint, it directly accepts and “opens” the .MOV files (created by the Canon SX1 or SX10 cameras). It takes some time, but it creates a series of stills, probably out of every full frame in the video clip. From that one can simply select and save an individual still frame, say as a .jpg photo.
The quality seems to be practically identical, with perhaps a very slight edge in favor of the Vegas/Photopaint method.
Anyway, if you are not aware of this, it may be worth looking at.
