I have a Sony HDR SR10E and shoot HD videos. I can import the footage on my pc using the handycam utilities provided and can see them (1920×1080, AVC codec) with Picture Motion Browser.
When I try opening them with Vegas Pro 8.0a then the software hangs. There are no error messages, I just have to shut it down. Vegas is running on Vista but I tried re-installing it as well on an XP pc, same problem.
Vegas works well editing and rendering other SD footage.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for the feedback !
    Cheers, Fred

First, Update your version of Vegas to version 8.0c….
    (Remember its free).
Hopefully this will not result in vegas hanging.

I have had the same problem. I am using an FX7 and SV Platinum 8. I tried to import off a Sony HDV HD camera and Vegas just hung. No error message.

My friend used his dad’s computer running the same software as the HDV HD camera is his…and it imported fine. I can not understand why. Same software version and all.

    Hi Matt

I am just quoting what has been recommended to me by Steve Rhoden …

“First, Update your version of Vegas to version 8.0c….
    (Remember its free).
Hopefully this will not result in vegas hanging.”

It does work, I assure you !

    Cheers

    Fred
