  High Definition Intermediary

  Hello,

  I am about to begin editing Sony HVR-Z1U footage into Vegas Pro 8. Do I need a High Definition Intermediary? My research says Vegas 8 has those codecs already. Can Vegas import and convert to a high-quality AVI file as well as convert 60p to 24p like an outboard HDI can? I will edit on a quad-core computer with 4G RAM. Do I need more than Vegas to convert incoming HD footage to just I-frames?

  Vegas Pro8 and a reasonably fast computer make great companions for HDV, and you will not need an intermediary.
