  • Secondary Colour Correction ?

Posted by Rob Oday on March 3, 2009 at 4:05 pm

A little while ago, I saw a blog thread about S.CC, and I found it very interesting. The effect they were demonstrating was to have cool, de-saturated backgrounds and skin tones largely unchanged.
NOW before jumping down my throat, I’m only interested in the technique.

I am just wondering how I could do secondary CC in AE ?
Or would we require a new third party plug in ?

Many thanks for any help !

    Hi Dave !

Many thanks for the informed post. I can visualise exactly what you mean. I shall play with the technique later in the week, thought I’d do some research first !

I found the blog I mentioned:

Yeah, that’s it. I’d try Hue/Sat, messing with Channel Range to select the colors to affect. The little wedgies soften the ends of the range of colors to affect. You’d start with a shot having full range of colors, then leave the oranges alone, knocking down the sat and upping the blue for the rest of the colors outside orange.

A mask may or may not be necessary, depending on the existence of orange colors outside the talent that you want to knock down to blue.

[Dave LaRonde] “And speaking of “color” and “colors”, Mr. Roberts, you even used the American spelling! I’m stunned.

    Resistance is futile, Dave. 😉
