Why can’t I mask in Sony Vegas 9 Pro?
I have the Pro edition of Vegas and I can’t mask. It’s not where it was with 8 and I don’t know what to do. I did have the free trial of just regular Platinum, and it kept popping up when I tried to download the Pro version that I had bought. Is this a problem? If not, then how do I mask? Please help, and yes, I’m sure I have the Pro edition.

As of yet, there’s no such thing as Sony Vegas Pro 9.
There is Sony Vegas Pro 8, and there is Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 (which has a regular edition, a Platinum edition, and a Platinum Pro Pack edition…the “Pro Pack” is just the Platinum edition plus some extras like content and third-party plugins).
What does it say in the title bar? If you see Sony Vegas Pro, then the mask tool (assuming you’re referring to Bezier masking) is in the Pan / Crop window. Click the Pan / Crop button on any event to get there.

hi I have movie studio platinum 12.0
I have seen tutorials videos on how to mask – they direct the viewer to the event pan/crop and point out that on the lower left side underneath ‘position’ is ‘mask’ and to click on ‘mask’ to enable it – well..in my vegas there is ‘position’ but under position there is nothing called ‘mask’ in fact there is nothing at all..just ‘position’…is it because in my version they put the mask somewhere else?..I would really appreciate a reply..I have been trying to mask for a year and I have never found out how..I end up using a sloppy feathered cookie cutter shape..but if I found mask then I could put points all around the subject and make it much more professional..hope you can help me
