Media Manager – Edit Palette – Change Number of Rows and Columns
I created a palette, replicating the tag tree but reforming it so it fits in a grid of columns and rows, one column per tag ‘group’.
Now I find “edit current palette” has the # of columns and rows grayed out, i.e. stuck at 16 rows x 16 columns. Column widths and heights are too small to read the cells’ tag names. So to have a 9×8 palette, I have to create a whole new palette, adding each tag to the palette again.
Is that true? Is there a workaround or a hack to fix this? (If I experience a similar desire to re-size a future palette, it will be worth having solved properly.)
Also: Why we can’t let the tag tree be a palette, where we click on one or more tags and see the media that match that(those) tag(s)?
Background: I didn’t count how many tag groups I had, nor the number of tags within each group, but since I figured I would likely be adding more tags, I set my palette grid to be 16 columns by 16 rows.

Yes, there is no way to change the palette dimensions one created.

That’s exactly how the tag tree works. The palette is just an alternate view of the tags. Are you not seeing this behavior? Make sure you have your match mode set correctly at the top (i.e., Match All, Match Any).

The check-boxes that should appear to the left of the tag don’t appear in my Tag Tree.
Buoyed by your assertion that the Tag Tree should have the functionality of a palette, I clicked some more, and found that if I click just to the left of the tag icon, it works.
Then I found in your VASST tutorial’s preview video that your Media Manager includes check boxes in that magic space.
I don’t know why they don’t appear in mine, but it doesn’t really matter. The top of the search results window lists the words and tags applied to the search.

That sounds like it may be a graphics card drawing issue. Make sure you install the latest drivers from your graphics card manufacturer. The check boxes should be showing up under normal circumstances.
