  Possible to Render Surround Sound in MP4 Container?

  Vegas 8.0c

  Issue:
  Is it possible to render a video containing 5.1 surround sound in a MP4 container using a custom frame size? From what I see, .mp4 extension is only possible with AAC stereo. Otherwise, one must use .m2ts to retain 5.1 sound, limiting distribution.

  The only surround sound types exported by Vegas that I know of is .ac3 for Dolby 5.1 and Windows media video exports. I could be wrong though.

  Thanks for the quick response! Yes, .WMV can contain 5.1 surround sound.

  Rephrasing of question:

  What is the best way to render a video with surround sound for web distribution with streaming?

  I’ve heard of people using the H.264 specification and the .mp4 container to create some nice surround sound videos for web distribution. Can Vegas do this? Perhaps scripts/codecs?
