  video capture question

  maybe dumb question… is there a way to “program” my video capture to STOP when finishing capture from a tape ? … sometimes analog tapes (Canopus converter) with no timecode settings ….

  It will stop at the end of a DV tape because it has transport control and can sense the stop. The problem with analog converters like the Canopus is that they generate their own timecode and continue to generate it long after the tape has ended so Vegas has no way of knowing that the analog tape stopped.

  Maybe you can use the batch option and set the in and out points for an hour and then capture the in/out which would capture for an hour (or whatever time you set) and then stop.

  Kelly Chien aka “Chienworks”, created a piece of s/w that was designed to capture via VidCap analog streams from an already “setup” tv stream. I have used it. And I would think that with a bit of planing – you NEED to sync your capture “recipe” to your PC clock – and leave the tape running, that this would be doable too.
