Wrong black levels when saving as AVC/H.264
Hello all,
I’m attempting to save some 720p video from my digital camera as a .mp4 file using the MainConcept AVC/AAC encoder in Sony Vegas 8. The problem is, the rendered clip has “crushed” black levels (ie some colors are too black and missing information) and I can’t seem to rectify the problem. When I render as a DivX AVI or even Uncompressed RGB32 the colors are fine. I tried disabling the ‘Studio RGB (16 t 235)’ option in View > Video Scopes but the rendered MP4 still has crushed blacks. Any ideas? Thanks!
P.S. The problem does not seem to be effected by what format I’m editing, as saving the clip as .mp4 after editing it in RGB uncompressed still yields the problem.
