I have no MASK clickbox under Pan/Cropp and Position
Posted by Jon Smith on January 8, 2009 at 7:01 amI have Sony Vegas 9.0 an I am trying to learn to clone and going through tutuorials, but when I go into Pan/Crop and the video show under position at the bottom there is a clickbox for MASK they check to take the next step, I don’t have it. Please help!
Also, as a side note, is Vegas 9 considered better or worse than 8.0? Seems like a lot of people like 8.0.

See this thread: Vegas Pro 9.0? for a detailed explanation of why the version number are meaningless when you don’t realize that there are two completely different products. Movie Studio is NOT Vegas Pro so the numbers don’t matter.

There is no Sony Vegas 9…All the Movie Studio versions
are geared for home users. The professional versions are just
named Sony Vegas # with the latest version being “pro 8″….
Masking is only available in the pro versions….which leads to
another confusion because you also have “movie studio Platinum Pro”
…But still not the professional version…..lolSteve Rhoden

Once again, thank you for all of the terrific advice you share on this forum, it has been very helpful for me. Thank you for the clarity on this, it is very confusing. I thought by getting Vegas 9 I was getting the top program. So, I would be better off with Vegas Pro 8.0, correct? And that program will still be able to edit the M2ts files from my Canon HG20?

January 8, 2009 at 6:35 pmYep…Sony Vegas Pro 8 is the top dog.
The only thing Vegas cannot do with those M2ts files
from your Canon HG20 is turn them into Ice Cream.Steve Rhoden
