First I certainly hope that everyone had a safe New Year and that things will be brighter this year than last.

I have been doing sports videos for a while now and whenever the footage from a client is not clear enough to follow the player I spend a few hours creating a mask that follows the action using a white color, cookie cutter, then keyframed to follow. Needless to say this is a very tedious process and a waste of time. I recently came across a free software called Claxa 1.0 that allows you to mask and have the software to define and track the object. I just downloaded it and have only begun to work with it. I would like to know if anyone has used it or possibly knows if there is other software available that does this. If you watch a horse race or any NASCAR they have live highlight tracking and that would work great for me. This software looks promising so if no one is familiar with it I will pass along the info as I get deeper into it. Again Happy New Year to everyone.

I can not comment on the use of Claxa, since I have never used it. But if I read your story, I would say you really need a Motion Tracker function. Boris FX is a plugin for Vegas that contains such a Motion tracker. Did you ever try Boris FX or Boris Red? Maybe you even own Boris already?

No on both accounts…. I will look into it. Thanks for the suggestion.

    To add….
For my tracking purposes i use Imagineer systems set of tools.
They are incredibly accurate, easy to use and very efficient.
I’ve never heard of Claxa before.

Thanks Steve, I wished I had asked this question before it would have saved me lots of time. I found Claxa by chance and started looking at it. I have not found any reviews other than what the developer states. It’s free, so that is a plus but that certainly does not mean better. Can you tell me the system of tools you are using? In a few months I will be buying new equipment and looking at software, so I am in the planning stages now. It does look however that I will be buying the Final Cut Pro 2 suite and will need to purchase a new Mac as well and set it up as a dual boot. Thanks again for all the suggestions.
