Finger @ right edge of movie
I have my finger at the right edge of my movie. I’m editing with Sony Vegas Movie Studio 8. Is there a way I can trim that out? Can I just cut out the edge of the movie? Or any other way that someone can suggest? Thanks a lot.

Depending on how much finger is involved (by the way, which finger is it) you could use pan and crop to zoom in just enough to eliminate it. If you remember the overscan of most tvs you might not have to go as far as you think.

No certain finger, actually 2 or 3 of them that are just at the right edge. How do I crop the entire movie, not just part of it? By doing that I’ll get rid of the edge as it’s not needed.
Also my video preview is not working except in trimmer mode. I saw an earlier post that said to click some icon in trimmer mode but I could not find the icon (video monitor icon) . Thanks for your reply, Terry.
Oh, I’m using Sony Vegas Movie Studio 8 Platinum.

Well, I figured out my finger problem with your advice on the crop/pan solution. But I can’t get my ‘video preview’ to work at all. Thanks again.

In Vegas 8Pro the trimmer preview window is entirely separate from the video preview window..
Place an event on the time line. Place you curser in the middle of the event. The still image of the frame that your curser is one should show up in the video preview window. If it does not, what does show in the video preview window? If you can’t see a video preview window, go to view>preview and make sure it is checked. If it is checked look for a tab in the docked windows entitled preview and click on it. It is resizable both is size and resolution. If all you see is a black screen then what kind of an event are you trying to view. You might not have an acceptabel codec for it. Or you may have that track muted (see the switches in the track header)Unmute it or push solo. Now do you see it? Get back to us. and Merry Christmas.
