  fade and background colors

  brief questions:

  How do I set the background color to something apart from black?

  How do I fade to a different color (white)?

  you can do some cool similar stuff using the chroma keyer filter before and after fades too…

  yeah, see, i’ve already messed with those settings: I’ve tried setting both top and bottom to white, top to black, bottom to white, top to white, bottom to black. I’ve tried changing the background to white, however none of these changes alter anything (yes I did hit the apply button).

  Do you mean background as in what you see as transparency? If so, just lay another track below the one you’re working on and stick a solid color there (media generator). You can also use those to do a colored fade. I dunno if that answers your question.

  You have to add a Fade to Color envelope for these to work. Right-click the video track and choose Insert/Remove Envelope > Fade to Color. Then add envelope points and drag them up for the Top color and down for the Bottom color.

  I had the same question a few months ago. Maybe I am thinking of Premiere Pro (haven’t used it in a long time), but the actual color of the track could be changed to a different color from the standard black. Adding a fade up or down to the beginning or end of an event by dragging the actual beginning or end resulted in a fade to the actual track which is black. Anyone?
