Showing DV from SD camera compared to AVCHD format
I have Panasonic GS450 3CCD camcorder, which take excellent footage. I often show the videos (about street-children in Estonia) in different forums. To provide the best quality, I show the rendered movie direct from the camera on a Panasonic projector (not 1080i , but much better than a DVD (PAL) resolution). I am considering a HD camera, may be a Canon HF10. This is an AVCHD format, which I believe SV 8.0c can handle. Would I see a quality improvement, e.g. improved sharpness, if I can show the rendered video direct from the camera or from a blue-ray player? Or is it a better way to show the video on a projector?
PS: I am now also upgrading my PC to an Intel I7 940 CPU and 3×2 GB ram, Windows Vista 64 to address the ram and SV 8.1. -

That will depend on the resolution of the projector and if it supports wide screen. I use my laptop to play HD video on my HDTV or projector. Most HDTVs and projectors have a VGA input. I normally render to WMVHD, MPEG HD or m2t format played with VLC set de-interlacing to blend and get the same quality as Blu ray players. You may run into aspect ratio problems playing 16 x 9 0n a 4 x 3 projector, where you may have to letter box the video your self. What kinf of projector and what resolutions does it support?
