  PAL 30fps to PAL 25fps How???

  Hi,

  I have recently purchased a Canon 5D Mark 2, as I reside in Indian Subcontinent, TV Channels here use DVPAL at 25 fps. Now the issue is I am working on a project which requires 25 fps in PAL, Canon 5D Mark 2 has a PAL video system, but does record in 25 fps but in 30 fps.

  This is a big issue…there are some workarounds such as the FPS Convertor and stuff, but its confuses me more.

  Then I checked Adobe After effects help file, used Pixel Motion for Frame Blending, but I rendered it I see interlacing issues(lines getting distorted…i think, I’m a newbie). And it takes ages to render the file, I will be working on 2 hours of footage and I don’t know how to tackle this issue easily…

  I really need help guys…

  There’s Natress, AE’s timewarp, and twixtor. I would search by keyword about these and decide which route to go.

  Dave, i think the 5D Mark 2 is hard-coded to 30fps regardless of where you buy it. I dont even think it is 29.97, although i could be wrong.

  I dont think there are any settings to change this (much to the chagrin of most 5D Mk II buyers/potential buyers).

  I guess that is the compromise you make when you use a DSLR to record video!

  Asif – take a look at Vincent Laforet’s blog – he is currently shooting a doc on the 5D Mk II and i think he had some details on his workflow on his blog.

  The false economy depends i guess – probably for him, yes. But if you take a look at Vincent Laforet’s work with the 5D Mk II you’ll see the potential that camera has – you just need to know what you’re getting yourself into (and have a bucketload of fast glass available to you).

  For filming broadcast PAL – big mistake.

  Just used Compressor in FCP to convert .mov file with h.624 pal 30 fps to ProRes Pal 25, works perfectly, I hope i wouldnt have to do that all the time, there is a rumour that in April Canon will release new firmware to address this issue, because probably the europeans and asians are not buying it that much.

  You say Pro res PAL 25, what actual setting are you talking about?
  Everything I see listed says it is based on the source material frame rate (presumably 30fps) Thanks.

  Could you be so kind to drop some settings here.
  I’m in trying hard to get 30fps to 25. Looks like I succeed but I’m not shure yet.
