  • Can’t get previous scene button to work in DVD Architect 4.5

Posted by Jayson Gabler on December 7, 2008 at 3:39 am

I have several media files that I have put into a DVD menu, so I am not using a single file with chapters in it. While I can get the next button to work by setting the media end action to go to the next file, there seems to be no option to set an action to enable the previous scene button to work. Consequently, when I press it, the same scene just restarts itself.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Joining all the files together and using a chapter list is not an option, as that will take DAYS to render!

    Thanks.

Have you created a menu that points to all the files? Or did you just load all the media files right onto the menu page? The back button will only return you to the beginning of the current media. Why not just make a simple menu with the names of the media files and then point to those. If I am not understanding your problem please let me know.

    Hey Joe,

Thanks for replying. I just plonked all the media files onto the menu. I will try your suggestion, (once I look up how to do it!)

    Thanks again.

    Hi again,

I’ve had a look at the help files, and can’t seem to do what you’re suggesting. Any chance you could please tell me how? Also, when I press the Stop button, it doesn’t return to the menu, but brings up a page that I can’t get out of, (Menu and Resume buttons don’t work) and I have to close the preview page to do anything further.

    Thanks.

Those buttons are for skipping between chapters within a single title. You don’t have chapters withing a title, you have several titles. Though some DVD players do happen to skip between titles, there’s really no standard behavior that DVD manufacturers are supposed to stick to. So there’s no guarantee any particular player will do what you want in this situation.

To get those multiple files to behave like chapters, insert a Music / Video compilation and add the files to that. DVDA will create a single title with all of them, and each one will behave as a chapter. (Note that you will not be able to insert additional chapter markers into the compilation.)

This method does not require re-encoding (aka, “rerendering”) — assuming, of course, that each of your movies is already DVD compliant.

    Oh I got it working.

    4 anyone else reading:

for some reason I had to add other buttons (that I linked to the main menu) to all my titles(video clips).
then I reduced the size of those buttons so they arent visible and now when I push MENU button on any title it returns me to the Menu!!
    woohoo getting there!

That is useful – had 100% same problem..
Originally started creating a playlist, but navigation inside the playlist
worked only in the DVD Architect preview window and never on a regular
player. Did the compilations and it allowed skipping titles inside the compilation,
but the very last title doesn’t allow skipping back in the root menu. So
i have 10 titles in a compilation, can skip 1-10, but the very last one needs to be watched
till the very end to return back to the menu. Checked everything. End Action is “go to most recent menu”
Would be very thankful for your kind help or comment on this, i’m in despair -)

    Thanks!
