Thinking of getting Sony Vegas Pro and dropping it on an HP laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium 64 with 4gb of Ram.
Any ideas on how it would perform with primarily DV25 footage?
    How about HDV?
Haven’t made a firm decision so any input would be great.

You did not state the speed of your computer. However, the minimum requirement for DV is somewhere around Pentium 2.8 MHz. I actually used Vegas with such computer. With dual core you can easily process HDV. jk

Hey John K., if you mean the DV codec by DV the minimum requirements for the edit system are much lower than you think they are…years ago i was able to edit MiniDV on a P4 1.5 GHz with Adobe’s Premiere…

    to John W.:
Vegas is very ressource friendly it just depends on the resolutions you’re working on, HD requires somewhat four times more processing time than standard tv resolutions…an older Pentium M with 2 GHz should help you working on HD as well, but if you can go with a core2duo, do it.

It’s an Intel Centrino core 2 duo. 4mg ram. Most of the work would be dv25, just interested how it would handle hdv if necessary. It’s also a 64 bit OS.
    Thanks for your help.
