Preview video in Pro 8, No Video, Just Audio
When I select a video clip from my hard drive to preview the video in Vegas Pro 8, it does not show the video, but I hear the audio. I tried different hard drives from which I have other videos on and they only show audio and no video, too. Then, I went back and used Vegas 7, the video and audio both showed like normal. The preview area has been working for me ever since Vegas Pro 8 came out and just stopped showing video today. Anyone know why? It must be the program since it works with Vegas 7 just fine. Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Nothing is wrong, just go to the trimmer tab and disable the
video monitor preview button….(its a new and handy feature
added to vegas pro 8).Steve Rhoden

hello..new guy on vegas pro 8. i cant get the video in the timeline to show up in the preview window..can anyone help?

From the Pro 8 Readme file:
When the Show Video Monitor button in the Trimmer window is selected, video that you preview from the Vegas Explorer and Media Manager windows is played back in the Trimmer.
Because the Trimmer is placed in the same window dock as the Explorer and Media Manager, you will not see your video preview.
To preview Explorer and Media Manager video, you can drag the Trimmer to a new dock group, or you can turn off the Show Video Monitor button to preview in the Video Preview window. -
i can get the video in the trimmer to work just fine..i’m having problems with the the video in the the timeline to show up in the preview window..i can hear the audio, i just have a black screen in the preview window

Hi: I have had Vegas Pro 8 for about 6 years. After computer crash and re-loading everything and purchasing Sony Movie Studio Platinum 12, both Vegas Pro 8 and Platinum 12 work on new computer running win8 as well as laptop running vista – except, when I load new video into Pro 8 on the laptop, I get audio only and no video. I have tried many project preferences, etc. When I found this thread, I clicked trimmer tab and tried to find button you mentioned, but cannot find it. Have things changed in the last 6 years as far as updates to these controls.
