    Hello!

I want to use some footage from youtube and other websites that provides streamed videos in Vegas. Is this possible? What do I need, and how do I do it?

For YouTube, go to keepvid.com and save the video as MP4. Sometimes you can find the video in your browser cache and copy it out. For streaming Quicktime files you can use Quicktime Pro to save the stream. Each format has it’s own way of capturing.

    Hi Morty

One word of caution here. Be careful of copyrights if you’re gong to use any of those clips in a published project.

I grab YouTube stuff especialy training and how-to’s but only for my own personal use. I never use any of those in a published project.

That KeepVid site Jon mentioned is a great idea because you can save the vid’s as MP4 and much higher quality than FLV’s

    Hello!

I tried the keepvid for youtube videos. The files work good in quick time as mpeg 4, but when I play them in Vegas they flickers alot.. It also is a green tone in several places. How do I fix this?

You will have to use something like Super(c) to re-encode them to a format that is easier for Vegas to edit. AVI is best using the DV, M-JPEG, Huffyuv, any codec that is not MPEG-4.
