Problem Editing VOB Files on v.7
Over the past 4 or 5 months, I haven’t been able to edit VOB files. Everytime I run through the clips on the trimmer, I see red blocks and choppy footage like it’s not reading right. Please help if you can.

Make sure you have the latest version of Vegas 7. Red frames in MPEG2 files is a known issue with Vegas and they are still fixing it in Vegas Pro 8.0c. You might want to download the trial of Vegas Pro 8 and see if it fixes the problem for you and consider an upgrade if it does.
The only solution I can think of is to convert the VOB to an AVI file using a codec that doesn’t use interframe compression. Something like DV or M-JPEG would be best. Understand that VOB is a delivery format, not an editing format. Converting them to an editing format is always your best option.

Altough every new Vegas version is better in this issue, I’ve used DVD2AVI with VFAPI plugin-codec to “wrap” as AVI some VOBs that Vegas doesn´t want to open correctly… it is a freeware tool and the conversion to AVI is very fast…. maybe VASST gearshift also can help but I’m not sure…

Thanks. I’ll try the new version of vegas later to see if it works. But I’m pretty lazy when it comes to canverting to another formate lol, I have to do it if it doesn’t work. Thanks
