Importing analogue to Vegas Pro 8
Trying to capture/import from my camera (Hi8) using Dazzle 100. Vegas does not think it’s connected. Can import into Pinnacle so where am I going wrong.

You are probably not doing anything wrong. It is not uncommon that Pinnacle hardware products only work with their software. The Dazzle 100 might be one of these devices. I have fallen prey to this too and have a really nice analog capture card that only works with Pinnacle software so don’t feel bad. You’ll need to use your Dazzle 100 with the Pinnacle software at least to capture. Then use Vegas for editing.

There’s a lot of material to be transferred. Should I continue with the present setup or look at a different video capture card. If so can anyone give recommendations

I was going to suggest that you might want to sell the Dazzle on eBay and get something like an ADS Tech AV Link or a Canopus ADVC-110. I have two ADS Tech AV Links and they work well. I also have a Conopus ADVC-300 (one model up from the 110) and I bought an ADS Tech Instant DVD which captures direct to MPEG2. I use this to transfer old VHS tapes that I don’t want to edit. It just captures direct to MPEG2 and I burn directly to DVD. For things I want to edit I use my ADS Tech AV Link or ADVC-300 which captures to a DV AVI files.

I have the ADVC-300 too and works very nice capturing with Vegas (DV-AVI) AND it is also a very good output device for monitoring on an external TV or monitor (only SD) ….
