  Change attributes of several files in Project media window

  Hi,

  I’m wondering if there’s a quick way to change attributes of several media files in the Project media window instead of clicking each file separately.

  Here’s what I have to do at the moment.

  I use adobe on location to capture direct to disc with Sony V1 in progressive format. The clips are captured as interlaced, which is the way they are written to the tape aswell. Now when I go to edit I have to set the project to progressive but I am adding interlaced footage aswell form Z1, so I cannot set deinterlace to none, I have to go to the media files in the project and assign “field order none” so that vegas does not interpolate the Progressive clips. This is similar to Final cut pro, but in FCP I can select all the offensive files, right click, change filed order, and they all update.

  is there some shortcut I’m missing?

  you have two options here;
  A-project interlaces progressive footage
  B-project de-interlaces footage from Z1.
  Take your pick, you can’t have both on output. That’s the first place to start.

  Thanks spot,

  That’s kind of what I’m after, although not exactly,

  I need to have final output progressive, so I want to deinterlace the Z1 footage alright, and leave the V1 progressive alone. This works perfectly when I assign Field order to NONE on the V1 Clips in the project media window, but I have to go into every clip and do it manually instead of just selecting all the V1 progressive clips and changing this one property at once.

  I have found a workaround though.

  I can import one clip from V1, assign properties and Field order none, then click the little save button. Then when I import the rest of the clips they are automatically assigned progressive. The only thing to watch out for here is that I need to change settings back to interlace when I import the clips form Z1

  Vegas automatically sees the progressive flag when you bring in progressive footage from the V1 and you’ve got a progressive project set up.
  There is no need to manually flag anything.

  Hi,

  I am bringing in the footage from adobe on location, which records the stream as progressive,

  I have also tried to import from the tapes directly and the clips are captured as interlaced, which means I have to still use the workaround mentioned above (Dump all files and reimport with prog. settings.)

  Is there a setting I am missing to make vegas capture from V1 in Progressive mode? I couldn’t find anything and when I change import settings to Progressive it still captures interlaced.

  is there a script that could be written to change media properties for all selected clips in Project media window? That is really what I am after.

  the above workaround is usable but not very elegant, especially when capturing to different bins.
