  • Problems with Protype Titler

Posted by John Scale on September 20, 2008 at 6:58 pm

I have been editing a video with Sony Vegas Pro 8.0c and added some titles using the Protype Titler.

However when I loaded the file yesterday I initially saw red screens where the titles previously were. When I restarted Vegas the titles were there but certain characters were missing in the wording (i.e. Sample now reads “Sa pl ”

I have tried reinstalling the software and reinstalling Microsoft .Net but I am still getting the same problem.

If I create a new file even the previews in the Protype Titler window have certain characters missing. If I go into a title and try to change the font an error message comes up relating to some form errors and then crashes Vegas.

Has anyone heard of this before, or you can offer any advice on how I can fix this problem.

    Many thanks
    John

As mentioned earlier in this post…it can be a corrupt font
being used (it happens)…plus protype can still be a little touchy.

Thanks for the post, I checked the fonts with a utility from the web “Fix Fonts Folder”, it reported there were some problems with fonts so I removed those entries.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Sony Vegas Pro 8.0c and still get a fatal exception, the text that appears is:

Not sure if that means anything to anyone? I have previously also unistalled Microsoft .Net framework and reinstalled it but that has not fixed the problem.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Man, seems like some core programming architecture conflict with
something you have installed on your computer…can’t say what.

Protype titler is really wonderful, but it needs some programming fine
tuning to work out the varied stability bugs….For my
heavy titling tasks, i rely solely on Prodad Heroglyph.

Steve, thanks for the input a few days ago. I got sidetracked on other projects and did’nt get a chance to respond. It seems John has a similiar problem with ProType. If it is indeed a corrupt font it is inconsistent and doesn’t alway occur with the same font. I also do not have any problem using the old sony titler nor any other software using the same font base. Since most of the crashes occur while scrolling through the font list with Pro TYPE ,I work around the problem by looking for the font that I want using the old Sony titler. Then carefully select the font in Pro Type. Again, thanks for your help, and John if you find a solution let us know.

    Thanks,
    August
