Sony Vegas Platinum/Platinum Pro & Custom Settings
I downloaded the trial version of Platinum Pro from the Sony Vegas site–or so I thought. It was the file that their server sent when I clicked on Download. Turns out the file was actually for the lower version, Movie Studio Platinum.
It’s a little irritating not to be able to download and buy the up-engined version, but my real problem right now is that with this lower version, I’m not able to customize any settings in the render menu for MainConcept AVC, which appears from all the tutorials I’ve seen to be the one you want for the best reproduction on YouTube. The Custom button is greyed out.
Do I assume correctly that this is a disabled capability of the lower version? Or is it a limitation because I’m still using the trial? Or is it something else entirely?

OK, well… Sony has a problem with their nomenclature, if you ask me. The “Pro Pack” is just Platinum bundled with some other programs.
And it turns out that only the TRUE Vegas Pro (the $550 version) has the ability to customize the settings for MainConcept.
It’s exasperating that the ONE feature that will keep my video from looking crappy on YouTube would cost an additional $335!
Can someone help me out here? Is there a way to render high-quality output from Vegas Platinum that YouTube won’t compress into chunks? My project is set for 1440x1080x32, 29.970i, best rendering, no interlace. I have tried many rendering settings, all of which produce decent-quality video until YouTube gets a hold of it.
